King of Shaves had an outdated eCommerce eShop that been developed in the early 2000's. I was asked to build a brand new site at enterprise level.

This was a direct result of the success of King of Shaves Sub which offered subscriptions to customers. My client wanted this to be integrated into a new eCommerce website that also doubled up as their main marketing platform. shave.com version 2 (which I built), known as the "black site" was retired to make way for the "white site".

The tough bit was the deadline - "can you build it in eight weeks?". Hyperglide (a new razor technology) was being launched in January 2014. The new site had to coincide with the launch. Eights weeks to build an eShop of this nature is unheard of. Immodestly, I did it (with the help of a few associates and Simon Watson, Head of Design at King of Shaves).

The site was completed on time, much to everyones relief. I still develop the site on a weekly basis adding new technology and honing the eCommerce engine, marketing technology and fulfilment systems. It ran on an ultra fast server with a separate dedicated database server.

I partnered with Simon Watson, Head of Design (at the time) to build an ultra clean annoyance free platform. The site was also very fast utilising advanced caching and acceleration. Customers were informed of their order process and also received three and six monthly marketing emails (with discount codes) alongside a MailChimp solution to further promote products.

Customers could checkout using Amazon Payments, credit or debit card or PayPal. The site shipped worldwide and had table rates to calculate shipping for multiple territories and tax rates.
